Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of SkyBuddy ("the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What SkyBuddy is
SkyBuddy is a social tracker for pilots: it lets you log flights, share schedules with people you choose, find layover overlaps, and share live observer views. SkyBuddy is a personal-use tool. It is not approved for, and must not be used as, an aviation operations, dispatch, navigation, or safety-of-flight system.
Account
- You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/EEA) to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Don't share it. Anything done through your account is your responsibility.
- One person, one account. Don't impersonate other pilots, crew, or operators.
- Provide accurate registration information. You can change your display name and avatar at any time.
Acceptable use
Don't use SkyBuddy to:
- Harass, threaten, or stalk anyone — pilots, crew, observers, or staff.
- Impersonate another person, airline, or aircraft operator.
- Upload illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or harmful content (including avatars and audio).
- Scrape, mass-download, or bulk-collect data from the service or its observer share links.
- Probe, attack, or attempt to disrupt the service. Security research that follows responsible disclosure is welcome — email us first.
- Re-publish another user's flights, schedules, or shared views without their consent.
- Build a competing service using data exported from SkyBuddy.
Your content
You keep ownership of the content you upload (avatars, voice clips, profile text, flight notes, chat messages). You give SkyBuddy a non-exclusive licence to store, transmit, and display that content as needed to operate the service for you and the people you have chosen to share it with. We do not use your content to train AI models for anyone other than yourself (the AI clone is built solely from your own samples, for your own profile).
Observer share links
Observer share links are public-by-link by design — anyone you give the URL to can view what you chose to share. Treat them like a sharable Google Drive link: send them only to people you trust, and revoke them when you are done. Leaked links can be revoked from your account.
Flight data accuracy — important
Flight positions, schedules, and layover information shown in SkyBuddy come from third-party sources (ADSB.lol, OpenSky, schedule data you or other users provide) and from your own input. They may be wrong, delayed, missing, or stale. SkyBuddy must not be used to plan or carry out a flight, dispatch crew, identify aircraft for any operational purpose, or make any safety-related decision. Always rely on your operator's authoritative systems and published official sources.
Service availability
SkyBuddy is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We aim to keep the service running but make no uptime guarantee. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may take the service offline for maintenance, security, or for any other reason.
Suspension and termination
You can delete your account at any time from your profile (or by emailing us). We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, that pose a risk to other users, or that we are required to remove for legal reasons. Where reasonable, we will warn you first.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkyBuddy is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that flight data shown is accurate, complete, or current.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkyBuddy and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. In particular, we are not liable for any decision made — or not made — based on flight data, schedules, or positions shown in SkyBuddy. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of CAD $50 or the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold SkyBuddy harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you upload, your violation of these terms, or your violation of someone else's rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, except where local law gives you a non-waivable right to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
